Bulls Eye, Eyeball with VU2HSM Mani @ my hometown, Alleppey

What a wonderful meeting with a senior ham well into his 80s, yet incredibly energetic — 3 km runs most days or a 10 km walk!

A passionate HF operator, 40m & 20m, and Charminar Net controller since 1985. He literally made me climb up to his rooftop to see his beautiful homebrew HF antenna setup.

What struck me most was his super-simple shack — just one HF rig, backed by decades of experience and still going strong.

His message was simple:

“Make sure your voice is heard on the nets and keep it consistent.”

A great reminder that ham radio isn’t about how much equipment you own, but how well you use it and the connections you make. Even a quick check-in keeps the bands warm!

📻 Truly inspiring. 73's VU3NKQ Vipin Shankar
